About

JHYMB offers club and XC race team options for public, private and homeschooled student- athletes in grades 6-12 from Jackson Hole, WY. The team competes in the Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League, which is a league of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Initially combined with the Teton Valley Composite Team, JHYMB formed last year to accommodate the increasing demand from kids in Jackson. In our inaugural year we had 30 student-athletes and are expecting significant participation growth in our second year.

Our team philosophy is based on fun first. Our central goal is for students to develop a strong body, mind and character through mountain biking. We practice 3 days a week beginning in early June, culminating in a race season that offers those choosing to race the opportunity to compete in 5 events throughout Idaho. The State Championship is at Bogus Basin October 12th. In our first season last year, JHYMB took the overall 1st place trophy for Division II teams.

Team Goals:

The JHYMB team goals are simple: have fun, ride and race safely, and include and value every rider. Everyone is welcome, everyone rides. There are no tryouts, there are no cuts. JHYMB coaches are squarely focused on creating a team culture that is welcoming, safe and fun.

We strive to teach riders that mountain biking is a life-long activity for good health, to encourage aconnection to the outdoors, and to develop the commit- ment, discipline, and team- work needed to succeed in life. Although the students are learning skills and gaining fitness, our volunteer coaches are most focused on teaching students how to respect each other, themselves, the envi- ronment, their trails and their communities. We emphasize teamwork while creating stronger and more confident student-athletes both on and off the bike.
